"This is Iggy."

photo by Richard E. Aaron on flickr. is there anyone more photographable than iggy?

Confession - I have not listened to The Stooges. Will I now be stoned to death by outraged mp3 bloggers? Or is there a kind soul to take me aside, and calmly say, "you must listen to this"?

In any case, I like Iggy's solo stuff. There are a number of tracks I really like off of Lust for Life, and this one from The Idiot, "Dum Dum Boys," has been kicking my ass lately. All you need to make a good rock song is a good guitar line and repetition, repetition, repetition...

Well, "Search and Destroy" is a classic for a reason. So there's a start.

And speaking of which, I just heard a weird remake of it by Andrew Russo using keyboards and a male soprano... you can hear a clip here: http://www.russocentral.com/music-4.html.

I got to see the Stooges this summer and it was a life-changing show.

That's my two cents!

"You Better Run" is delightfully offensive:
"Oh Mr. Pop, you don't have to rape me because I loooooove you!"

Don't forget to catch Iggy's acting work on Adventures of Pete and Pete. Classic.

I listened to Iggy's solo stuff *way* before I heard The Stooges; my favorite song of his is still "Run Like a Villain" from Zombie Birdhouse, I think. The freaking greatest Stooges song is "Down on the Street" from Fun House! http://www.last.fm/music/The+Stooges/_/Down+on+the+Street
